The Crossfire 2 has set the standard for high performance elliptical 9 cell canopies… until now. The X-Fire is completely redesigned to excel in all areas important to you- the pilot: openings, harness input, swooping, and packing while remaining your ultimate “everyday canopy.”

The X-Fire openings are smooth and consistent as ever. Through the application of our Shape Correlation for Inlet Distribution (SCID) recently debuted in the S-Fire and the TX2, the result are fluid on-heading openings. At terminal speeds the X-Fire takes between 800-900 feet to give you that perfect opening every single time. And the best part? It doesn’t need to be packed with meticulous skill! This wing wants to give you soft on-heading openings effortlessly.
The X-Fire has adopted the Schuemann Planform (elliptical on the leading edge and less so on the trailing edge) that allows for great lift and reactivity, which is why this planform has been used in paragliders, speed wings and other high performance wings. When this planform is adopted the stall speed is lowered; therefore you can swoop further than with the Crossfire 2. This is also why the X-Fire has a minimum requirement of 400 total jumps and 200 jumps annually. Currency is mandatory. However, at this level of reactivity and performance 800 jumps is what we believe to be the benchmark to really experience the caliber of performance the X-Fire can offer.

The X-Fire is above and beyond the Crossfire 2 when it comes to harness inputs, so flying with leg pad input alone is done with ease. The recovery arc has been lengthened, but remains shorter than cross braced canopies- which is exactly why this is the ultimate gateway canopy. The reactivity of the X-Fire translates to awesome front riser pressure, and dramatically easier rear riser control than the Crossfire 2. It takes little effort to land on your rears and experience a powerful flare. Toggle control is improved as the X-Fire has a much stronger low end flare than the Crossfire 2, which results in the ability to shut it down on no wind days even in a tight landing area.
Now let’s talk innovation: SCID gives the openings but the performance of the X-Fire demanded elevated Parabolic Reinforcement Tapes (PRT). A full parabola of reinforcement is visible on load bearing ribs, a great deal more than the S-Fire or TX2. A canopy like the X-Fire needs absolutely no drag from distortion of the top skin, so even though it is more time consuming in the production line, the end product is worth it, and when you swoop the X-fire you will understand.

This isn’t your average elliptical 9 cell. Fly the X-Fire and you will see why from opening all the way to the shutdown, this wing is a game changer.

In 1998 we released the ICARUS Safire. A revolutionary canopy, being the first all purpose 9 cell canopy to include a lightly and truly elliptical planform shape offering superior openings and flight characteristics compared to competing mid-performance 9 cell designs at the time.

We knew that the superior characteristics of this design (such as a lightly elliptical planform shape, and constant cell proportioning) would not be ignored by other canopy manufacturers. This style of design would become the benchmark for mid-range performance canopies and other manufacturers would build similar designs.

The Safire2 goes one step ahead of the competition again. Like the original Safire it is a truly elliptical canopy with a light shaping incorporating a constant cell aspect ratio which consistently controls the airfoil shape across the canopy, maintaining increased rigidity and reducing drag.icarus_safire_2_image

The Safire2 is an enhanced design integrating new trim and plan form shaping techniques offering an increased glide ratio, more responsive flight controls both on toggles and risers, a more powerful flare and a shorter recovery arc making the canopy even more predictable. The Crossfire 2 shares the same impressive capabilities as its predecessor, plus some of the most responsive toggle and riser control inputs of any canopy in the market. It has a light front riser pressure and an even longer recovery arc. A highly elliptical planform, constant cell aspect ratio, closed nose, and fully shaped surfaces make this inflatable wing capable of unrivaled performance. It will out-perform any non cross-braced 9 cell available.

The ICARUS Crossfire 2 is a high performance elliptical ZP 9-cell canopy designed specifically for experienced ram air pilots. Its highly innovative planform design is truly elliptical in both leading and trailing edges. All nine cells vary in width across the canopy maintaining a constant cell aspect ratio to control distortion.

Unlike any other 9-cell, the Crossfire 2 nose is partially formed to give the canopy a more efficient leading edge. Its advanced nose design not only improves the aerodynamics, it also assists in controlling the openings. The diagonal structure of the nose also provides support to the non-loaded ribs during flight creating further rigidity at the leading edge and reducing distortion during the flare.

A major problem with previous high performance elliptical canopies had been ‘diving off heading’ openings. Our development work with the Crossfire 2 has reduced this dramatically. The Crossfire 2 openings are among the most consistent and comfortable ‘stress free’ openings available. The turns are snappy and the canopy has a large recovery arc; allowing it to dive for a long time and easily pick up speed when required. The flare is as powerful as you will find.

The S Fire is the next iteration of our wildly successful Safire 2, and while still geared towards beginner/intermediate jumpers, we have taken it further.

We have stayed true to the essence of what made the Safire 2 top of it’s class. The elliptical 9 cell with a light shaping, a constant cell aspect ratio, with sweet consistent on-heading openings. A forgiving canopy with a powerful flare and responsive controls. However, after years of testing and engineering we have enhanced the Safire to make an ultimately superior wing in the S Fire.

The S Fire introduces a number of innovative design features such as Parabolic Reinforcement Tapes (PRT), 2ⁿᵈ generation of Enhanced Ram Air Stabilizers (ERAS²), and Shape Correlation for Inlet Placement (SCIP) that makes it the most advanced design in the market. PRT allows the S Fire to use the elasticity of the fabric to its’ advantage – successfully eliminating upper surface distortion and airfoil deformation and creating a smoother top skin which gives you the glide to get you where you want to go. ERAS² eliminates panel flutter while simultaneously reducing the wing tip vortex to save and use energy for maximum flight performance. SCIP controls the inflation process of the canopy ensuring constant deceleration and consistent on-heading openings.

An optimized span wise skeleton ensures the robustness of the canopy even in the most demanding loading conditions and ensures that the S Fire is a structurally superior canopy throughout our entire range of sizes. The newly developed line set configuration will last even longer than before with the same line elongation resulting is less performance deterioration without sacrificing responsiveness.

The S Fire possess an increased range of performance, therefore the it will be able to be flown longer before the progression to a Crossfire takes hold, something all pilots will be on board with!

We have taken everything you loved about the Safire canopies and given it an upgrade by streamlining this wing and removing wasted energy – creating a rigid wing that is more efficient than we thought possible. These structural improvements allow the S Fire to have a smoother, cleaner airfoil, positive and dynamic flight characteristics and more canopy control. The S Fire allows you to use your rears with ease and experience a huge low end and powerful flare. At a higher wingloading it becomes a different animal, as a result expert canopy pilots don’t want to give it back!

The ICARUS NANO NANO has revolutionized the low pack volume reserve. With the NANO you get the same low pack volume as its competitor with the added piece of mind that your NANO is made with a more dense low volume fabric that is more resistant to line friction and thereby a safer more structurally superior last resort.

Even with a more dense fabric, we maintain 30% lower

pack volume than our conventional reserve. We have tested the NANO above and beyond the specifications required by the FAA’S TSCO C23d. The NANO offers the same unparalleled opening, flight and landing characteristics as the ICARUS

Reserve, now with a much lower pack volume. With high technology, low pack volume, and dependable durability, the NANO is the clear choice. We offer the NANO in sizes ranging from 99 to 253 square feet.

The ICARUS Omni is a 7-cell, semi elliptical tapered canopy all zero porosity canopy, designed as an all purpose canopy with soft on-heading openings, predictable flight characteristics, light toggle and riser pressure and with the added advantage of an increased glide ratio and greater flar

e power when compared with many other 7-cell designs.

The RESULT is a fun to fly, enjoyable, practical, small volume, easy to pack, all around 7-cell canopy useable for all facets of modern skydiving.

At lighter wing loadings (below .9 psf) it is a good transition canopy or for someone who likes to take it easy. At heavier wing loadings (up to 1.5 psf) it will have noticeable performance while maintaining soft openings and great landings.

NEOS is the first high performance skydiving canopy designed by applying advanced parachute design numerical methodologies with in-house developed cutting edge computational fluid dynamic software tools.

NEOS true elliptical plan form has 3 dual cells on each end and 3 center tri cells designed to ensure even upper surface span wise tension while carrying the loads through an internal membrane skeleton. Traditional cross bracing techniques achieve upper surface control by generating irregular span wise tension, but the side effects on aerodynamic surface deformation, variations on local angle of attack and uneven chord wise rib loading make them unfriendly to fly and introduce an inherently unpredictable deployment sequence that requires pilot input to correct.
ARC is designed around the concept of carrying the flight loads through an internal membrane acting as an skeleton and allowing the outer surfaces to be shaped specifically to fit their aerodynamic requirements and therefore be more lift/drag efficient.

The fully elliptical plan form shape is completed with the integration of ERAS that contribute to control wing tip vortex and provide a clean and efficient aerodynamic shape. Inflating the wing tip with pressurized air allows for stabilization of the wing tip vortex and eliminates energy consuming vibration of traditional single layer canopy stabilizers.

Traditional canopies have single layer stabilizers sewn onto or as an extension of the end or tip cell, acting basically as slider stops to help control canopy deployment. Once the canopy is deployed and in forward flight, regular stabilizers vibrate and bring additional drag and noise to the canopy flight. ERAS ram air double layer pressurized stabilizers give the wing tip a much more effective shape with better continuity, and increase the air perceived aspect ratio of the wing. The resulting additional L/D efficiency and the absence of vibration noise allow for higher loading canopy configurations and thus increases overall wing performance.
